Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

What is an Employee Assistance Program?

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, professional and confidential counselling service offered by employers to their employees to support their psychological well-being in the workplace and in their personal lives. Depending on the employer’s arrangement, EAP counselling may also extend to immediate family members.

Shine Counselling's EAP service offers professional, private, confidential support and assistance to individuals who have personal and/or work related issues that may be impacting on their well-being, work performance, safety, individual and workplace morale and psychological health.

Shine Counselling's EAP service is aimed at assisting employees to:

  • understand and clarify issues that are directly concerning them, including any underlying issues.

  • identify and explore options to address those issues.

  • develop plans to approach the issues and find constructive solutions.

Events and issues which may give rise to requests for EAP counselling services include (but are not limited to):

Work Issues:

  • Problems with performance.

  • Relationships between co-workers.

  • Bullying and harassment.

  • Managing conflict and anger management.

  • Adjusting to change in the workplace.

  • Career change.

  • Managing work related stress.

Personal Issues:

  • Anxiety or depression.

  • Stress management.

  • Grief and loss.

  • Midlife and life transition issues.

  • Emotional or physical abuse.

  • Low self-esteem.

  • Substance abuse.

  • Gambling problems.

  • Anger management.

Family Issues:

  • Work-life balance.

  • Concerns about children.

  • Relationship issues.

  • Parenting and step-parenting issues.

  • Separation and divorce.

  • Domestic violence.

Are you an employee who needs help to address work-related or personal issues?

If you are an employee and need help to address work-related or personal issues that are negatively affecting your work or personal well-being you may be able to access EAP Counselling services (Employee Assistance Program) for a set number of free, confidential and professional counselling sessions.

These counselling sessions will be funded by your employer. With the aim to help you to manage any work-related and/or personal issues that are affecting your well-being at work.

You may refer yourself for counselling. You will need to tell your employer that you would like to access Shine Counselling's EAP service. You can pass on my contact details to them, or contact me and I can inform them that one of their employees has requested an EAP session with me and we can agree on a set number of sessions to be funded by your employer. Please feel reassured that this service is confidential and private. No personal information will be disclosed to your employer. Sessions times are flexible, and can be arranged outside of your work hours.
